In a bid to foster a strong civil-military relationship with host communities and the general populace, the Naval Outpost Onitsha, ACCU-Answer Limited and Chris Care Medical Services Limited, have provided free medical services to about 1000 residents of Ogbaru Council Area.
The two-day medical outreach, held at Primary Health Care Center, Odekpe, is part of a series of non-kinetic activities under Operation DELTA SANITY III, directed by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.
The outreach addressed various health conditions, including high blood pressure, high body temperature, high blood sugar, malaria, HIV, Hepatitis B and C, uric acid levels, lipid profiles, and prostate-specific antigen screening, free consultations and medications.
Speaking at the event, the Commanding Officer of Naval Outpost Onitsha, Navy Captain Musa Jarma, highlighted that Operation Delta Sanity aims to enhance security, particularly in the maritime sector, combat crimes, and fulfill the Navy’s corporate social responsibilities within the host community.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACCU-Answer Limited, Chief Chijioke Christopher, emphasized that the initiative seeks to improve the health of residents as a way of giving back to society.
In their remarks, the Acting Local Government Chairman of Ogbaru Council Area, Honourable Kenneth Akwuobi, along with the Councillor for Iyiowa Odekpe, and Ohita ward, Mr. Nnamdi Esimai and a beneficiary, Mrs. Theresa Oduma, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for their ongoing support to Ogbaru community and encouraged them to sustain the momentum.
