Reputable Chattered Accountant and former Chairman of the London Group of Nigerian Professionals in the United Kingdom, Chief Ben Etiaba, has endorsed the aspiration of Sir Azuka Okwuosa for governor, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress – APC. A member of the APC, Chief Etiaba ran for the Anambra State governorship in 2021, following the dispute from the primaries of the party, he later ended up with Action Alliance, as its candidate in the 2021 Anambra State gubernatorial election.
Speaking on Afia TV’s flagship programme, “Eastern Eye,” Chief Etiaba said that he is not running for the governorship of Anambra State. “Let me say that four years ago, around this time in 2021, I was gearing up to run for governor in APC, I was part of the fourteen people who ran. There is a governorship election coming up next year, I can tell you that Ben Etiaba will not be running in the primaries or in the main election to replace Soludo as governor next year”. However, Chief Etiaba disclosed his line of action in the coming 2025 governorship election in Anambra State. “I will be supporting my friend, who is running. His name is Azuka Okwuosa, of APC. I will work for his emergence in the primaries of the APC. I have endorsed him. I will work towards his emergence,” Chief Etiaba reiterated.
Reflecting on his recent increased media visibility, Etiaba said it has nothing to do with any political ambition of his, but a personal conscious decision taken after his 60th birthday, to live a life of thanksgiving and appreciation to God.
On the possibility of dislodging Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the incumbent governor of Anambra State, Chief Etiaba said that it is not strange that an Anambra Governor can serve for only a single term, given that before Peter Obi, no Anambra State Governor in the old and new Anambra State, had served for two terms. “It is not unheard of that in Anambra a governor serves one term. Our people are a different sort of electorate. The replacement should come from Anambra South, so I am supporting Azuka Okwuosa in APC,” Ben Etiaba said, maintaining that in any event, Sir Azuka Okwuosa would only serve for one term.
