Anambra State has won two prestigious awards at the National Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge held in Abuja.
The state smiled home with the Best State in the Entire Southeast zone and the Overall Best State in the Entire Country.
A post shared by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Ejimofor Opara on social media, said for winning the best state in the southeast zone, Anambra State received a cheque of $500,000 (five hundred thousand dollars).
“And as the overall best state in the country in the Primary Healthcare Leadership challenge, the State was presented with a cheque of $700,000 (Seven hundred thousand dollars), bringing the total prize money won by Anambra this night to $1,200,000 (One million two hundred thousand dollars).
“The event is powered by the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.”
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo received the awards himself and was accompanied to Abuja for the event by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike; Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake; Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Pharmacist Chisom Uchem and Managing Director, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr Simeon Onyemaechi.
The Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge is aimed at enhancing Governors’ commitment to human capital development and primary healthcare, mobilize state resources, promote accountability, and foster innovation for gender-specific health outcomes
