The leading aspirant for the governorship ticket of the APC in Anambra state for the 2025 gubernatorial election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has marked the 2024 Christmas celebration with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation – SGF, Senator George Akume, who was also a former governor of Benue State and also with the governor of Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia, in the spirit of the Christmas season. The Christmas festivities which commenced at the St. Thomas Catholic Church Anum, Markudi, was a well-attended mass with musical rendition and sermon that spoke to the love and significance of the birth of Jesus Christ and what it means to the redemption of mankind. From the Church, Sir Paul Chukwuma was hosted by the Benue State Governor at the Benue State Governor’s Lodge.

Thereafter, Chukwuma paid a Christmas courtesy call to the SGF, Senator George Akume, and was warmly received at the home of the SGF, who was commended by Sir Chukwuma for driving the administrative engine room of the ongoing reforms by the federal government of Nigeria.

Sir Paul Chukwuma, who has emerged as the new face of opposition in Anambra State, seized the Christmas season to call for prayers for Anambra State, for the restoration of order in the State as it has continued to slip deeper into chaos and anarchy, with all manner of criminality witnessed, unabated. According to Chukwuma, “At Christmas, we rise as one to demonstrate our shared humanity. We show love to mankind as Christ our Saviour did. Christ offers mankind the opportunity for rebirth”, he said.

Drawing an inference from the prevailing security situation in Anambra, Chukwuma said that Anambra State needs the spirit of Christmas. “Our dear Anambra State has been traumatized all year long by a long-drawn spate of insecurity and avoidable deaths. While we decry the appalling leadership failure that has led to these regrettable outcomes, we pray that true love as represented by the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ shall find expression among our people this Christmas and that his loving kindness shall heal Ndi Anambra from the avoidable trauma they have experienced in this outgoing year”, Mr. Chukwuma prayed.
