Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has threatened to sack any political appointee who goes campaigning for any elective office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Governor, speaking at the 2024 end-of-year stakeholders meeting of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, held at the Government House, Yola, Fintiri, told his appointees to drop all campaigns for 2027.
“Your respective tasks right now should be delivering the expectations of your current offices or risk losing the offices.
“It is still time to focus on governance and delivery of services and projects rather than politicking,” Fintiri asserted, adding that those bent on seeking to be overly popular for political ends should resign or face likely dismissal,” he said.
The Governor said he remained committed to serving the people of the state rather than catering to the interest of a select few, saying that his agenda for 2025 and beyond remains service to the people.
In a remark, the state chairman of PDP, Barr Tahir Shehu, lifted the suspension on all affected party members and warned party executives to be cautious in handling the party’s affairs.
Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, Members of the National Assembly from the state, Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, all the PDP assembly members, and all commissioners attended the PDP Stakeholders meeting.
