The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of new psychoactive substances (NPS) disguised under alarming street names.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this while announcing recent drug seizures in Lagos and Kano States, which revealed the abuse of harmful substances among Nigerian youths.
Babafemi identified the substances as including NPS and others bearing troubling names such as “Suck & Die,” “Rubber Solution,” “Dead Man,” and “Gelato.”
He warned parents, guardians, and community leaders to be vigilant in identifying and tackling these trends in their surroundings.
In a post shared on X on Sunday, Babafemi wrote: “Narco-trend update: Parents, shine your eyes. Latest seizures by @ndlea_nigeria officers in Lagos and Kano reveal scary names of some substances, including NPS, we should all watch out for in our homes and communities: Suck & Die, Rubber Solution, Dead Man, Gelato.”
The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts to curb drug abuse in the country.
