The Adamawa State Police Command on 19/1/2025 apprehended two suspected members of the Shilla cult group who were involved in multiple robbery incidents in and around Yola, the state capital.
According to a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command received a report on 19/01/2025 from a concerned citizen about a robbery incident involving a group of Shilla Boys operating a tricycle along Yola Road.
The suspects are Hamza Ibrahim, 19, of Behind Shopping Complex, Jimeta-Yola North local government area, and Abdulkarim Suleiman, 20, of Sengere Samunaka, Yola South local government area.
The statement said: “The suspects had robbed one Uba Ibrahim of his iPhone XR at Jippu Jam tall gate. Upon receiving the report, police operatives attached to Karewa Divisional Police Headquarters responded swiftly and intercepted the suspects at Malamre Junction.
“Further investigation revealed that the suspects had earlier robbed Bello Babangida of his iPhone 7 along the Jimeta-Yola road. Both stolen phones and the tricycle used in committing the crime were recovered at the scene”.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the swift response of the police operatives and the cooperation being enjoyed by the public and advised citizens to continue supporting the police for effective service delivery.
The police Boss assured that the suspects would be diligently prosecuted.
