The Jigawa State Government has commenced free education for all female indigenes in state-owned institutions, covering every level from primary school to PhD levels.

Jigawa State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Isa Chamo, who announced this, said the initiative seeks to encourage more girls to pursue education without financial barriers hindering their aspirations.

The Commissioner added that Governor Umar Namadi’s the initiative is aims to empower women through education and foster gender equality in the state.

“We’re confident that this programme will have a lasting impact on the lives of our female students.

“This is a significant step towards promoting gender equality and empowering women through education. By providing free education to female indigenes, the Jigawa State Government is empowering women to take control of their lives, make informed decisions, and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities,” Prof. Chamo added.

On the implementation of the initiative, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Scholarships Board, Alhaji Sa’idu Magaji, emphasized the commitment behind the programme.

“The board has been working tirelessly to ensure the successful implementation of this programme. We believe that education is the key to unlock the potential of our female students, and we’re committed to supporting them every step of the way,” he said.
