The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has assured corps members that they will begin receiving ₦77,000 as their monthly allowance starting from February 2025.
Ahmed gave the assurance while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State.
The Federal Government had earlier announced an increase in the monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 in response to the reviewed minimum wage and rising inflation.
However, concerns had been raised over the implementation, especially after an NYSC official last year attributed the delay to a lack of funds.
Ahmed, however, confirmed that the increment had been included in the 2025 budget and would take effect once the budget is passed.
“The Federal Government has already approved the increment of your allowance. It is no longer news; we have the approval in our hands. What we are waiting for is just the passage of the budget,” he said.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving ₦77,000 instead of the usual ₦33,000.”
