The Senate has approved the appointment of new members to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
This follows the consideration of a report by the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.
During the plenary session on Wednesday, Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen (Edo South) presented the committee’s findings, after which the Senate moved to the Committee of the Whole for a clause-by-clause review before confirming the nominees.
The confirmed members of the CCB are: Ibikunle Bayonle Fatai – Oyo State
Ikpeme Kenneth Ndem – Cross River State
And Hon. Justice Buba Ibrahim Nyaure (Rtd.) – Taraba State
The nominations were initially submitted by President Bola Tinubu in a formal letter to the Senate President on November 24, 2024.
The letter was subsequently referred to the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions for review.
The Code of Conduct Bureau, established in 1979, is a key institution in promoting ethical standards and accountability in public service. With their confirmation, the new members are expected to enhance the bureau’s efforts in ensuring integrity and compliance within government institutions.
