The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has vowed that the Nigerian military will track down and eliminate notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
Speaking in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, on Thursday, Oluyede assured that troops were actively pursuing Turji and would not stop until he was taken out.
“Bello Turji is on the run as we speak, and everywhere he goes, we follow him there. Let him keep running, it is just a matter of time, he will be removed from space,” he said while addressing journalists at the Headquarters of Operation Hadarin Daji.
The Army Chief highlighted recent military successes, noting that troops had killed several top bandit leaders.
“We are pursuing them and we intend to continue with that. It is the same thing with the fight against the bandits. In the last few months, we have killed prominent bandit leaders like Samaila, Boga, and the likes of Boderi. All those ones are dead. We are still pursuing them and to see how we can make the entire North-West very safe,” Oluyede said.
Despite challenges, Oluyede stressed that the military was committed to securing the North-West and called on Nigerians to provide timely intelligence to help combat insecurity.
