A leading aspirant for the ticket of the Labour Party in the November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election, Mr. John Nwosu, has stepped up his bid for the party’s ticket during his visit to the National Secretariat of the party on Thursday, for the submission of his completed Nomination and Expression of Interest forms.
The aspirant was accompanied by his wife and key members of the Anambra State Labour Party, including Mr. Oseloka Obaze, former Secretary to the Government of Anambra State, who is now the Chairman of John Nwosu Campaign Organization; Rt. Hon. Barr. Benchuks Nwosu, former Speaker Pro Tempore of Anambra State, now the Director General of John Nwosu Campaign Organization; Barr. Ifeanyi Mbanusi, a stakeholder of the party who was a member of the Presidential Campaign Council of the party in 2023, among others.
In his speech, John Nwosu noted that the exercise was significant. According to him, “Today marks a significant milestone in the future of Anambra State under the Labour Party”, Nwosu said. Recognizing the efforts of the party’s National Working Committee, John Nwosu said that he appreciates them for their tireless efforts. “I deeply appreciate the tireless efforts of the National Working Committee in ensuring a smooth and transparent process.”
Speaking on the prospects of the Labour Party in the coming governorship election, Nwosu expressed optimism, pointing to the fact that the Labour Party has a presence across the 21 LGAs of Anambra State after a most peaceful congress in 2024. Reacting, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure appreciated John Nwosu, his wife, and his team members. “I sincerely appreciate John Nwosu for coming with his supportive beautiful wife and loyal team to submit his Nomination forms. I strongly believe that the transformation of Nigeria will begin with Anambra State”, Abure said, as he paid a special tribute to Oseloka Obaze and Benchuks Nwosu for their immense contributions to the party.
In his remarks, Oseloka Obaze, the Chairman of John Nwosu Campaign Organization, said that the Labour Party in Anambra State had consulted widely and decided to present their best, John Nwosu. “We have consulted widely and decided to present the most capable gubernatorial aspirant of the Labour Party in Anambra State. We are here to submit the nomination forms of a candidate whose vision, competence, and transformative abilities are unmatched. Above all, John is an adroit party man, who is well-known to the party leaders and at the grassroots”, Obaze said.
The ticket of the Labour Party for the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election is being contested by John Nwosu and George Moughalu.
Ebuka graduated with a second-class upper-division degree in Political Science from the University of Calabar in Nigeria. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Political Science with a specialization in Government and Development Studies from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Nigeria. His academic background and professional experience have equipped him with a deep understanding of political dynamics and governance issues.
