Residents of five communities in Dugwaba district of Hong local government area of Adamawa State have deserted their ancestral homes as a result of incessant attacks by suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists.
The affected villages with a population of over ten thousand are Kopre, Zah, Kinging, Mubang and Dabna have already relocated to Hong, Gombi, Song and Yola and become Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.
Dr. Herbert Rufus Hanawa, Principal Special Assistant to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Budget disclosed this when he led a delegation of Dugwaba Community on a courtesy call to the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Bathiya Wesley on behalf of the District Head, Mr Simon Buba.
The PSA also revealed that 40 persons out 58 from the community who were abducted two years ago are still in captivity, pointing out that 18 of the victims managed to escape from the den of the terrorists after spending one year.
Responding, the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Bathiya Wesley noted that no development will thrive in an atmosphere devoid of peace, pointing out as legislators they will lobby to ensure that peace is restored in the affected communities.
