Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has condemned the gruesome killing of 24 hunters from the North allegedly murdered in Uromi, Edo State.
A press statement by the National President of NYCN, Comrade Isah Abubakar on Friday, sought justice for the victims.
The statement reads, “We condemn in the strongest terms the gruesome killing of 24 hunters from the North, who fell victim to jungle justice in Uromi, Edo State.
“This senseless and brutal act is a stark reminder of the dangers of injustice and the urgent need for our authorities to take decisive action.
“We demand that the Federal Government and the Edo State Government take immediate action by issuing a strong statement condemning the senseless murder of these innocent hunters, offer financial compensation to the families of the victims, who have been left to mourn the loss of their loved ones and ensure justice is served by working tirelessly to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous crime, and ensure that they face the full weight of the law.
“We urge the authorities to take concrete steps to address the root causes of jungle justice, including the lack of faith in the justice system and the need for community-based initiatives to promote peace and understanding.
“We stand in solidarity with the families of the victims and demand justice for the fallen hunters.”
