The Rotary Club of Ojodu has celebrated its 20th Anniversary in grand style with records of numerous service projects that have positively impacted lives of members of the society.
The event took place yesterday at the prestigious Protea by Marriott Ikeja Select, Lagos.
The evening was one of poise, pageantry, and profound reflection on two decades of unwavering commitment to humanitarian service.
Since its charter on 8th March 2005, the club—originally founded in 2002 with 26 dedicated members—has remained resolute in its mission: “Passionate in Solving Global Problems, Starting with Our Community.” Over the years, it has carried out numerous service projects that have positively impacted lives, embodying the true spirit of Rotary’s global vision.
The landmark occasion was graced by officials from Rotary International District 9111 and District 9112, alongside eminent Rotarians from across Nigeria. The Assistant Governor of the Club, AG Azuh Arinze, as well as other distinguished guests, commended the club’s remarkable growth and continued dedication to service.
A heartwarming moment of the evening was the recognition of Rotarian Agborpasschal Onyejegbu, the sole remaining Charter Member, who expressed immense joy at witnessing the club’s evolution over the past 20 years.
In his address, the 20th President, Rotarian Osi-Evans Ikpunuekhai, paid glowing tribute to past leaders, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to Rotary’s ideals and their invaluable contributions to uplifting indigent communities.
He noted that the club’s achievements are built upon the resilience, leadership, and service of its members.
Adding depth to the celebration, Past President and current Assistant Governor of District 9111, Rotarian Jelly Efedi, took guests through the club’s 20-year journey, highlighting the key service projects executed across Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus, including, Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Economic and Community Development and Supporting the Environment
