An Anambra State APC stakeholder from Aguata LGA, Chief Jude Osunde, has joined the Young Progressive Party – YPP, in his ward, Igbo-Ukwu Ward 1. Chief Osude, a known community leader, successful businessman, and Church leader in Aguata, joined the YPP formally on Monday, with some of his allies who were from other political parties. On his decision to join the YPP, Chief Jude Osude declared that “marketing YPP is easier than marketing other older political parties with so much baggage.” He also affirmed his unalloyed support for Sir Paul Chukwuma, the YPP candidate in the November 8 Anambra State governorship election. Accordingly, Chief Osude recognized that unseating the incumbent is not an easy task, but clearly possible. “It is not going to be easy. Winning an incumbent is not easy. It is not going to be easy to dislodge a sitting government. But we can do it with YPP. We must engage in a serious grassroots operation,” Chief Osude said while emphasizing that the focus must be on the bigger goal of winning the election which demands that all hands be on deck.

Another APC stakeholder and party leader, Lady Chinyere Ezechukwu, the APC Southeast Zonal Woman Leader, has also joined the YPP. Lady Ezechukwu, more popularly called Melody, is a known mobilizer and woman leader in Aguata LGA. Speaking during the formal declaration of Chief Jude Osude, Lady Ezechukwu said that she has decided to walk away from the APC despite her position in the party. Her decision, she said, was inspired by her confidence in Sir Paul Chukwuma’s leadership prowess.

Similarly, Hon. Benjamin Anigbogu, a former PDP councillorship candidate and the leader of all PDP councillorship aspirants, was at the meeting at the instance of Chief Osude. He too declared without equivocation, that he is fully in support of the YPP’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election. Also, Hon. Peter Nwaegbu, now former Chairman of the Labour Party in Igbo-Ukwu ward 1, expressed his support and declared that he is joining Chief Osude in support of the YPP and its candidate for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State. Mrs. Ifeoma Umeokafor, a retiree, was not left out as she opted to go “all the way” with the YPP and its candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma.

After a brief charge by the Anambra South Zonal Chairman of the YPP, Hon. Ifeanyi Ikunna, he issued the YPP membership card to the Igbo-Ukwu ward 1 chairman, Mr. Chukwudi Okafor, who then handed the membership card to Chief Jude Osude, signaling his formal reception into the YPP as a member.

The YPP has continued to gain momentum since last Thursday after the emergence of Sir Paul Chukwuma as its candidate for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
