The Speaker, House of Representatives, in support of victims of the 25th January, 2025, fuel tanker explosion that claimed lives at Ugwu-Onyeama in Enugu State, has donated the sum of eighteen million naira only (#18,000,000.00).

The financial support was presented to the Enugu State Governor on Tuesday for the victims by a delegation of the Enugu State Caucus of the House of Representatives led by Nnolim Nnaji.

Moved by the show of solidarity and compassion, the state governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, commended the House of Representatives’ members for the kind gesture and effort to alleviate the pains of the survivors still in the hospital and those bereaved of their loved ones.

Governor Mbah thanked the Speaker, House of Representatives, and promised to ensure the financial support is equitably shared with the victims in a transparent, accountable, and just manner.

“When the tragedy struck, the Speaker reached out, offering his prayers and assuring us that we are not alone. Today, he has shown that his concern goes beyond words. He has extended his compassion through this meaningful gesture of support.”

Through the caucus, Governor Mbah expressed his appreciation to the Speaker for not only mourning with the state but also helping by providing further relief to the families affected.
