NewsNigeriaPoliticsLawmakers Frustrated, As Rivers Sole Administrator Shuns House Invitation

House of Representatives members expressed frustration over the failure of the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas to honour another scheduled meeting.

Recall that the House Committee on Rivers State Oversight had invited Ibas to discuss important matters regarding the state’s governance, but once again, he failed to attend.

It was reported that Ibas had originally been scheduled to meet with the committee on April 17, 2025. However, he sent a request to postpone, which the committee assented to.

According to reports, the meeting was rescheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2025, but when the committee gathered at 3:00 p.m. in Committee Room 301, they found the seat for Ibas empty.

The room filled with growing frustration as the minutes passed with no sign of the Vice Admiral.

Committee members, disappointed, looked up to their chairman, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere for comments.

His response was short but to the point: “No words. I will issue a statement later in the day.”

The members, one after the other left the room disappointed and frustrated, suggesting that Ibas’s repeated absences would no longer be tolerated.
