AWKA, Nigeria — As the November 8, 2025, governorship election approaches, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has unveiled a sweeping vision for his potential second term, promising to accelerate development and position the state as a model of sustainability and innovation in Nigeria.

In a statement released by his press secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo said his renewed mandate under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) would prioritize smart urban development, integrated transportation, healthcare access, and youth empowerment.

At the heart of the governor’s second-term blueprint is the creation of three smart urban centers: Awka 2.0, Next Onitsha, and the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City. These planned developments aim to modernize infrastructure, attract investment, and foster environmentally sustainable communities.

“In our next chapter, we are not just continuing — we are scaling up,” Soludo said in the statement. “Our goal is a green, liveable, and prosperous homeland for every Anambra citizen.”

The administration’s proposed transportation overhaul includes the implementation of a state-wide rail network, expanded trunk highways, and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system with digital ticketing. These measures, according to the governor, are designed to reduce congestion, enhance productivity, and limit environmental degradation.

On the healthcare front, Soludo pledged to establish a state-of-the-art oncology center to combat Nigeria’s growing cancer burden, while also expanding telemedicine services to ensure accessible healthcare for residents in remote and underserved areas.

The governor also announced plans to revitalize tourism by upgrading and securing sites such as the Ogbunike Caves, Agulu Lake, and Owerre-Ezukala Waterfalls. The development of the Marriott Hotel in Awka is expected to complement these efforts and boost hospitality-driven economic growth.

Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to education and youth development, with a proposed bursary initiative to provide financial aid to students and ensure equal educational opportunities across the state.

“This vision represents not only continuity but a bold leap forward,” the statement concluded. “We are setting the pace for what a 21st-century Nigerian state should look like.”

Governor Soludo was elected in 2021 and is seeking re-election under the APGA platform.
