The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), held on Saturday, 10 May 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, celebrated the finest in African film and television.

The event saw ‘Seven Doors’ emerge as a standout, clinching multiple top honours.

Veteran actress Chioma Akpotha was awarded Best Lead Actress for her compelling performance in Seven Doors, while Femi Adebayo secured the Best Lead Actor accolade for his role in the same film. The film also earned the Best Score award, with composer Tolu Obanro recognised for his exceptional work.

In the supporting categories, Gabriel Afolayan won Best Supporting Actor for ‘Inside Life,’ and Mercy Aigbe took home Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Farmer’s Bride.’

‘Freedom Way’ was named Best Movie, highlighting its impact in the industry. Additionally, ‘Lisabi: The Uprising” received the award for Best Indigenous Language (West Africa).

The ceremony also honoured industry veterans Nkem Owoh and Sani Mu’azu with the Industry Merit Award, recognising their significant contributions to African cinema. Director Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award for his innovative work in filmmaking.

The evening featured performances from musical talents Johnny Drille, Fido, and Kunmie, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
