Governor Soludo’s Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment Programmes, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, on Thursday, marked his 35th birthday in a welfare home in Igboukwu, Aguata local government area, Anambra State. Omenugha, joined by his lovely wife Chidera, requested friends, family, and well-wishers to gather at the welfare home where orphans, special needs children, and the elderly are residing. First, he made a detour to Nnobi in Idemili South local government area, his hometown, where he was received by about sixty pupils, whom he sponsors to their education in the community. The students received schoolbags and other educational materials from the celebrant.

The next stop was the St. Martin’s Community Children (Orphanage) Welfare Home, Igboukwu, which played host to numerous friends and family of Dr. Nelson Omenugha, who joined him to commemorate his 35th birthday as requested. His Eminence, Okpaleke Cardinal Peter, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, was at the event and offered prayers for the celebrant. The Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, attended to share her son’s joy. The event was also attended by several officials of the Anambra State Government at different levels, all of whom joined to wish the celebrant a happy and memorable birthday.

The highpoint of the event at the welfare home was the support of one million Naira, given by Nelson, towards the educational needs of the orphans in the welfare home. This gesture of love was well received by the management of the welfare home and expressed gratitude to the celebrant.

According to Nelson Omenugha, he undertook to spend his birthday at the welfare home and offer support towards the education of the kids because it aligns with his commitment to make a child great by empowering their future.

In the end, the event offered a chance for reflection on impact and finding a way to make one’s community better.
