Sir Paul Chukwuma, the governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party – YPP, has condemned the murder of Anambra lawyer and the President General of Aguleri Town Union, Barr. Rolex Ifeanyi Iloakasia, who was murdered on Thursday, in Anambra State. The lawyer who was brutally executed along with one man, was reportedly coming from a court session. Yet another passenger in the car who was said to have sustained gunshot injuries has been reported dead.
Expressing shock, the YPP Governorship candidate said the development must be condemned by all as it points to a dangerous trend that jeopardizes the future of Anambra State. According to the Statement signed by Sir Paul Chukwuma, the attack signals something far more damaging and devastating for Anambra State. “This extremely painful loss signposts a dangerous descent into the state of nature of sorts, which has been going on in Anambra State. The brutal execution of a budding, young, and promising legal professional and a community leader of good standing in the mold of Barr. Rolex, stands condemned in clear terms. This barbaric act is an attack on Anambra State,” Chukwuma said.
Sir Paul Chukwuma called on Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, to live up to the state’s core responsibility of protecting lives and properties. He also called for a change of strategy in dealing with the security challenge in Anambra State. “The current government in Anambra State must live up to its duty of protecting the lives and properties of the people of Anambra State. We don’t have to wait for criminals to act before they are trailed and apprehended. We don’t have to allow criminals to overrun our state before we start to act. The government must retune its strategy and shift from mere apprehension of criminals after they have inflicted damage, to crime prevention and control,” Sir Paul Chukwuma said, as he condoled the deceased family and the entire Aguleri community.
