Two chiefs of local security outfits, the Chairmen of Pulaku and Hunters groups in Njoboli of Yola South local government area of Adamawa State, Aminu Bigila and Kabiru Kawu, have been suspended following allegations of complicity in vandalizing an electricity transformer that powered the community.
The Village Head of Njoboli, Alhaji Lawan Abubakar Bapetel, who announced the suspension of the two local security chiefs while addressing the community on the security situation in the community, said already a seven-man taskforce committee has already been constituted to take charge of security in the area pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Village Head explained that part of the committee’s mandate is to track down the vandals of the transformer that put the community in total darkness.
Bapetel said the action has become imperative considering the magnitude of destruction caused to the electricity transformer in the area by the criminals and their collaborators.
He condemned the actions of the duo, described them as saboteurs, and charged the newly constituted members to brace up and work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them by the community.
Commenting on the development, the security officer in charge of the Njoboli community, Mallam Umaru Barkindo, urged people of the area to report any suspicious movement of a person or group to the nearest security outfit for prompt action.
