The Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on Monday received Prince Orji Ugochukwu, the Nigerian Immigration Officer who apprehended the notorious native doctor and ritualist, Eze Levi Obieze aka Obu, at the Gbaji checkpoint along Badagry-Seme road while attempting to flee out of the country on a motorcycle.
Praising the NIS officer for upholding integrity rather than self-gratification, Governor Mbah described Ugochukwu’s action as reflecting the very spirit of service needed in building our institutions and society; “he is a role model for both his colleagues and the general public.”
Prince Orji Ugochukwu apprehended the prime suspect in the recent gruesome incident that occurred in Umumba, Ezeagu Local Government Area in Enugu state.
In his verified X account @PNMbah, Governor Mbah shared: “I was delighted to receive Prince Orji Ugochukwu, the immigration officer who apprehended the prime suspect in the gruesome incident that occurred in Ezeagu, while the suspect was attempting to flee across the Nigerian border.”
“Ugochukwu has distinguished himself as a man of integrity who, when faced with a test of character, chose duty over personal gain and upheld the honour of his uniform,” the Governor stated.
Recall that Obi Levi Obieze of Umuojor village in Isiagu Community in Ezeagu LGA is a prime suspect in the gruesome murder of a pregnant woman and a man whose decomposed bodies were found in a concrete sealed pit in an uncompleted building owned by him.
His nefarious acts were exposed when his men kidnapped a 13-year-old girl. The girl was thrown into the pit, but her shouts of help drew the neighborhood watchmen to the killers’ den.
Governor Mbah has also announced a scholarship for the girl, and the kidnappers’ den was demolished according to the laws of the state.
