The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has released the names of 72 lawyers shortlisted for the highly coveted rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for the 2025 batch.
The announcement was made in a notice signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and LPPC Secretary, Kabir Akanbi, on Tuesday.
According to the committee, 57 of the shortlisted candidates are in the advocates’ category, while the remaining 15 are academic applicants.
The release of the list signals the final stage of interviews and assessments, which will determine who makes it to the final SAN conferment list.

Meanwhile, the LPPC is calling on the public to send in comments regarding the character, competence, and integrity of the shortlisted candidates.
“Every complaint must be accompanied with a verifying affidavit deposed to by the author before a superior court of record in Nigeria or before a Notary Public and must be in twenty (20) copies, which must be received,” the committee stated in the public notice.
However, the LPPC also made it clear that making the shortlist is not the same as automatic conferment of the SAN rank. The final list of successful candidates will be released after all interviews and reviews are concluded.
