After the Women’s Africa Cup of Nation (WAFCON) over the host country, Morocco on Saturday, President Bola Tinubu has awarded the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honour to all 24 players and 11 technical crew members of the victorious Super Falcons.

Tinubu in addition to the honour, also announced a cash reward of $100,000 (N150m) each for the players, while the technical crew members received $50,000 (N75m).

The president also gifted each of the players and crew members’ one unit of three-bedroom flat.

The President made the announcements during a reception hosted for the Super Falcons at the presidential Villa.

The Super Falcons, 10-time African champions after their 3-2 comeback over the Atlas Lionesses Morocco, were received by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the president’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, upon their arrival.

Recall that in a post-match video call on Saturday night, the President hailed the captain and tournament MVP Rasheedat Ajibade.

He also praised Nigeria’s rally from a 2-0 half-time deficit to claim the WAFCON title.
