No fewer than 592 terrorists have been killed by the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, and 372 assets have been destroyed in 8 months of intensified operations against insurgents in Borno State.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who disclosed this during a visit to Governor Babagana Zulum in Maiduguri on Tuesday, said the operations, carried out under Operation Hadin Kai.
He said the operations involved 798 combat sorties and over 1,500 flight hours, targeting terrorist strongholds and logistics routes.
“Airstrikes destroyed 206 technical vehicles and 166 logistics hubs in remote locations, significantly disrupting the activities of Boko Haram and ISWAP.
“The deployment of a new Mi-35 gunship would further boost air support for ground troops,” Air Marshal Abubakar said.
Responding, Governor Zulum commended the Air Force for its role in securing communities and aiding the resettlement of displaced residents.
