Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) and Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) have signed a memorandum of understanding for collaboration in research, academic exchange, and student-staff mobility. The MoU signed at Keffi, within the week, was facilitated by the Vice Chancellors of the two Universities. Interestingly, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, the Vice Chancellor of COOU, and Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Vice Chancellor of NSUK, are the first female Vice Chancellors of their respective universities.
The Vice Chancellor of COOU, Professor Kate Omenugha, who was accompanied to NSUK by Professor Ngozi Joe-Ikechebelu, Professor Kingsley Nwozor, and Professor Sylvia Okonkwo, expressed optimism, as she described the experience as “a truly inspiring moment.”
A statement by Professor Omenugha noted that the MoU marks the beginning of stronger collaboration between the two institutions. “This MoU marks the beginning of stronger collaboration…at its core, it is about creating spaces where ideas, cultures, and knowledge flow freely because that is what a University truly stands for. With COOU-NSUK now on this journey together, I am even more convinced that the future of higher education in Nigeria lies in meaningful partnerships,” Omenugha averred.
Professor Liman, after the MoU, took the COOU team on a tour of NSUK, which Professor Kate Omenugha described as impressive. “I was deeply impressed by the University’s growth and the vision that drives it. It was not just a tour of buildings, but a glimpse into a culture of excellence and a commitment to academic distinction,” Professor Omenugha added, while thanking the team from COOU who joined her during the visit to NSUK.
