The management of Taraba State University Jalingo has suspended all student associations, unions, clubs, and societies operating within the University till further notice.
The suspension followed unruly activities exhibited by some students of the institution during students week.
The suspension of Unions activities was contained in a circular signed by the Registrar of the institution Joseph U. Bibinu, PhD and addressed to all Students, Staff and General University Community.
The circular reads in parts: “The University Management has observed with grave concern the growing wave of indiscipline, defiance, and outright insubordination exhibited by some student associations within the University. Such conduct is unacceptable, and it undermines the peace, order, and academic integrity of the University.
“Consequently, the University Management hereby orders the immediate suspension of all student associations, unions, clubs, and societies operating within the University. This suspension takes immediate effect and shall remain in force until further notice.
“Any violation of this directive will be regarded as gross misconduct and shall attract severe disciplinary measures, in line with the University’s regulations”.
The circular warned that, no student group or individual is permitted to convene meetings, organise events, issue communications, or carry out any activity under the guise of any student association within or outside in the name of the University.
