Crime & SecurityNewsNigeriaFormer EFCC Staff Faces Charges Of Stealing ₦22 million

The hearing in the trial of Polycarp Andrew, a dismissed staff and former exhibit keeper of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has been adjourned till December 11, 2025.
Andrew is facing six counts of criminal breach of trust after allegedly stealing over ₦22 million from exhibits under his custody while serving as an exhibit keeper.
He was later arrested in Taraba State after absconding when investigations linked him to the theft.
At the court session, the defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Prosecution counsel, H.M. Mohammed, informed the court of his readiness to present two witnesses—an EFCC officer and an official from Opay Bank.
Defence counsel, D.B. Kwajafa, however, sought an adjournment, saying he needed more time to study a flash drive containing the video recording of the defendant’s extra-judicial statement, which was only recently served on him.
Mohammed opposed the application, arguing that the flash drive was not relevant to the current stage of proceedings.
After hearing both parties,Justice A. Bello of the Kaduna State High Court granted the defence request and adjourned the case to December 11, 2025, for hearing.
