For a hitch free Christmas and New year celebrations in Adamawa, Police in collaboration with sister security agencies, has put in place adequate security arrangements to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
Already, Police personnel of the Adamawa State Command, drawn from Divisional Police Headquarters, Tactical Units, Area Commands, Investigation/Intelligence Departments, have been ordered to conduct 24/7 routine patrols, visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, stop-and-search exercises, and confidence-building engagements throughout the festive period.
The image maker of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje in a statement said the action of the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris was in compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun to adequately deploy Police personnel and operational assets ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“The Anti-Bomb Squad to sweep and draw a security ring across all places of worship, event centres, and recreational facilities.
“The Officer in Charge of the Central Motor Traffic Division (CMTD) to ensure effective traffic control for free flow of traffic, and that cars are parked a little distance from places of worship.
“The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Intelligence, to activate and ensure effective information gathering for proper coordination,” the statement said.
The Command has also issued the following security tips:
Avoid Suspicious Objects: Refrain from carrying objects that look incriminating or suspicious.
Be Vigilant: Report any suspicious person, movement, or item around your neighbourhood to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency numbers.
Avoid Dangerous/Reckless Driving: Road users should refrain from speeding, racing, and engaging in reckless and dangerous driving.
Underaged children and unlicensed persons are not allowed to operate vehicles.
Car/Power Bike Racing: All forms of unauthorized racing that constitute nuisance and danger are prohibited.
Parental Guidance: Parents and guardians are advised to monitor their wards to avoid cases of missing children, accidents, child trafficking, amongst others.
Fireworks Ban: The use of fireworks is strictly prohibited, especially within residential areas.
Peaceful Celebrations: Members of the public are warned to desist from all acts or conduct that might likely cause a breakdown of law and order.
The Command appreciates the good people of the State for their continued support and cooperation with the officers, men, and women of the Command and urges them to sustain this momentum in the year 2026.
