NewsNigeriaPoliticsCommission Takes Steps To Tackle Corruption In Jigawa

As part of efforts to build strategic partnerships with key institutions at national and international levels, a delegation from the Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (JSPCACC) had visited the headquarters of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) in Abuja.

JSPCACC spokesman, Yusuf Suleiman, who disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday, said the visit is to strengthen collaboration aimed at promoting peace, accountability, and effective conflict resolution in Jigawa state.

The delegation led by Permanent Member II, Alhaji Hassan Hashim, was received by the Director-General of IPCR, Dr Joseph Ochogwu, alongside members of the institute’s management team.

During the visit, Hashim said the engagement was part of the commission’s broader strategy to identify and collaborate with critical stakeholders to advance its mandate.

According to him, closer collaboration with IPCR would help JSPCACC establish a more robust, effective system capable of delivering on its core mandate to address public complaints and combat corruption.

“As a relatively new institution, JSPCACC is keen on strengthening its operational capacity, particularly in the area of mediation and dispute resolution.

“The partnership would enable staff of the commission to benefit from IPCR’s flagship training programmes, with a view to attaining professional certification and aligning with international best practices in conflict management,” he said.

Responding, the Director-General of IPCR, Dr Ochogwu, commended the achievements recorded by JSPCACC within a short period of its establishment, describing them as a testament to effective leadership and institutional commitment.

He further lauded the Jigawa State Government for sustaining a peaceful environment, noting that the state stands out as one of the most stable in the country.

Ochogwu assured the delegation of IPCR’s readiness to support the commission through technical expertise, experienced personnel, and tailored capacity-building programmes.
