A combined security operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command, troops of the 144 Battalion, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have repelled terrorist attack on Garaha Village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to a statement signed by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Adamawa State Command Police Public Relations Officer, the attempted attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, but normalcy has since returned to the area, while joint security personnel continue operations to maintain peace, enhance security, and prevent any further breach.
“The joint team responded promptly, engaged the attackers, and forced them to retreat toward the Sambisa Forest, thereby averting further attacks and protecting the affected community. During the operation, *one offensive weapon was recovered from the fleeing terrorists,” the statement adds.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, has commended the bravery, professionalism, and synergy among the security agencies.
He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements and activities to the nearest security agency.
In another development, the Adamawa State Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested the prime suspect in Yola.
“The stolen vehicle, which was reported missing after it was parked at Sammy Store, adjacent to Lamido Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Yola, was recovered through prompt public information and swift police response. The suspect, Omega Gubo, 59, of Rumde Baru Ward, Jimeta, Yola, was arrested in connection with the case.
“Investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be charged in court in accordance with extant laws,” the statement said.END
