The Chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba state, Hon. Mohammed J. Umar, has declared a 24-hour curfew on the Mbamnga community, following a communal clash between the Mambilla and Fulani tribes. According to reports, the tribal conflict has resulted in the loss of many lives, including yet to be identified security personnel.

The imposition of the curfew, contained in a statement dated 16 September 2026 by the spokesman for the council chairman, Marvelous Heli, advised residents to stay indoors, maintaining that the situation is under control.
“Following the outbreak of unrest in Mbamnga, a community in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State, the Executive Chairman of Sardauna Local Government Council, Hon. Mohammed J. Umar, has declared an immediate 24-hour curfew across Mbamnga, Mbara and Geroji.
“The measure is necessary to restore calm, safeguard lives and property, and prevent any further escalation of violence in the affected areas,” the statement read.
The Council Chairman disclosed that security operatives have been deployed to the affected communities to maintain law and order and protect lives and property.
The statement directed security agencies to enforce the curfew and arrest any violator, while traditional rulers should educate their subjects towards peaceful coexistence.
“All security agencies are directed to enforce the curfew strictly and are authorized to arrest any individual or group found violating the directive.
