The Chairman, Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, Prof. Christian Ngwu, has declared the All Progressives Congress candidates the winners in the September 26, 2026, Enugu State Local Government elections.
The election was conducted for 17 Chairmanship and 260 Councillorship positions across the state, and the APC won in all 17 LGAs and 260 wards.
Declaring the winners on Sunday at ENSIEC’s headquarters in Independence layout, Enugu, Prof. Ngwu said the successful candidates had satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast in their respective constituencies.
Ngwu subsequently presented certificates of return to the newly elected chairmen. He congratulated the winners and urged them to regard their victories as a call to service.
The ENSIEC Chairman further commended voters, security agencies, civil society organizations, and the media for their roles in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, has described the party’s success at the polls as indicating the dominance and acceptance of the national ruling party, APC, in the state.
“We will not rest as we push the developmental efforts of President Bola Tinubu and our amiable governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for the world to see.
Recall that 2 years ago, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won all the 17 LGAs Chairmanship and 260 Councillorship elections in the state.
