Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba state has directed security agencies to commence full implementation of Executive Orders No 7 and No 2 of 2026, prohibiting burial in private and residential areas in the State.
The orders also prohibits activities of political thuggery and drug abuse.
The Taraba state Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice, Yakubu Maikasuwa, SAN, in a statement issued on Thursday, explained that the Laws shall be implemented without any form of ethnic, political or religious consideration.
“Sequel to the governor’s directive on the prohibition of political thuggery and drug abuse across the state, the Hon. Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice hereby directs all security agencies in the State, to wit the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Taraba Marshall etc. to commence immediate and full implementation of all Laws against political thuggery (including Executive Order No. 7 of 2026) and Drug Abuse in the State.
“The Laws shall be implemented in full scale without any form of political, religious or ethnic consideration. The Laws shall have teeth to bark and bite especially as political activities have commenced,” the statement reads.
The statement also called on traditional and religious leaders to ensure strict implementation of the Laws prohibiting open burials in private or residential areas unless in designated areas.
The statement further stated that all burials must be conducted only in designated areas for the health and safety of our citizens.
”The Hon. Attorney General equally call on all Local Government Chairmen, Traditional Rulers, Ward Heads, Village Heads, Religious Leaders, Family Heads and the general public etc are to ensure strict enforcement and implementation of Executive Order No. 2 of 2026 and all Laws prohibiting open burials in private or residential areas in the State EXCEPT where permission is expressly granted by Government as required by the order,” the statement added.
