NewsNigeriaPoliticsAtiku Launches ‘Ask AA’ Portal to Engage Nigerians on Policies, Record

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has launched an online platform allowing Nigerians to question him directly about his political record, policy proposals and plans to address the country’s challenges.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate unveiled the Ask AA portal on Thursday, 15 October, as a channel for citizens to seek answers on issues ranging from the economy and security to technology, job creation and the rising cost of living.
The free-access platform is designed to bridge the gap between political leaders and voters by giving Nigerians an opportunity to engage with Atiku and obtain information about his positions on issues affecting their daily lives.
According to a statement signed by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku will personally respond to questions submitted through the platform, with assistance from his media team.
“The objective of this initiative is to bring Atiku Abubakar closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform,” Shaibu said.
He added that the initiative reflects Atiku’s commitment to using modern technology to make government more efficient, secure and effective.
For Nigerians in communities without internet access, the campaign said it plans to extend the platform’s reach through a radio interface.
Announcing the initiative on his social media accounts, Atiku said the idea was driven by his belief that “leadership is a two-way conversation.”
“For too long, governance has felt distant—locked behind walls of bureaucracy. But our country’s greatest resource isn’t oil or land; it is our people. If we are going to build the Nigeria of our dreams, we must start by tearing down the walls between leaders and the people,” he said.
Atiku described Ask AA as a platform for transparency, accountability and dialogue, promising that Nigerians would be able to question his economic record, scrutinise his policy proposals and offer suggestions for national development.
“That is why I am launching Ask AA—a direct citizen-engagement platform built for transparency, accountability and dialogue. No filters, no intermediaries,” he said.
He added that questions about his economic record and proposals on technology, security and job creation would be welcome, alongside citizens’ criticisms and recommendations.
“Whether you want to question my economic record, discuss my policy plans for technology, security and job creation, or share your own recommendations for national progress, nothing is off the table. I want to hear your questions, your policy critiques and your best ideas,” Atiku said.
Beyond responding to questions online, the former vice-president said he would personally telephone selected participants who provide their contact details, allowing him to hear about their experiences and the challenges they face.
“Beyond answering questions here, I will personally call selected citizens who leave their contact details so I can hear directly about their experiences and the issues affecting their daily lives,” he said.
Atiku also argued that technology-driven governance should begin with how political leaders engage with citizens, rather than remain a promise for the future.
“A transparent, technology-driven government is not a promise for tomorrow. It begins with how we listen to you today,” he said.
He concluded his announcement by inviting Nigerians to participate in the initiative, saying: “I’m logged in and ready. If you could ask me one question, what would it be?”
