“A Record of Service, A Capacity to Deliver, A Vision for a Stronger Constituency” —Dr. Declan Onwudiwe

As the people of the Nwangele, Isu, Nkwerre, and Njaba (NINN) Federal Constituency look toward the next election, they face an important choice. The real question is not who can make the most promises or craft the most appealing campaign slogan. Rather, it is this: Who has already demonstrated commitment to the people and has the experience, relationships, and determination to turn that commitment into meaningful development?

In my view, Chief Nze Cosmas Maduba, popularly known as Ikenga Isu, deserves serious consideration as NINN’s next representative in the Nigerian House of Representatives.

My support is based neither on political calculation nor momentary enthusiasm. It is grounded in more than six decades of friendship, observation, and shared concern for our people’s welfare and progress. Having known Chief Maduba since our primary school days in Isunjaba, I have watched his personal growth, professional development, and public service journey. Over the years, despite my academic career in the United States, our interactions and conversations have remained consistent enough for me to appreciate his enduring commitment to developing our communities.

What distinguishes a worthy representative is not merely ambition but evidence of service. Leadership is most credible when it precedes political office rather than follows it.

Chief Maduba has demonstrated that principle through his investments in people. Among his most notable contributions has been his support for education. Through scholarships and sponsorships, including support for students studying abroad, he has expanded opportunities for young people who might otherwise have struggled to achieve their academic aspirations. In a society where education remains one of the most reliable pathways to social and economic advancement, these interventions are more than acts of generosity; they are investments in our communities’ future.

A constituency advances when its young people gain the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society. By supporting educational advancement, Chief Maduba has shown an understanding that sustainable development begins with human capital.

His commitment to development is also reflected in infrastructure projects that have improved residents’ daily lives. During his tenure as Commissioner for Agriculture under Governor Hope Uzodimma, he played an important role in facilitating the construction and revitalization of the road linking Umuaka, Isunjaba, and Eziama extensions.

For those unfamiliar with the realities of rural development, a road may seem like merely a transportation project. In truth, roads are economic lifelines. They connect farmers to markets, students to schools, patients to healthcare facilities, and families to opportunities. Communities thrive when they are connected. Businesses grow when transportation becomes easier and more reliable. Development follows where accessibility improves.

This road project’s significance extends far beyond asphalt and concrete. It shows an ability to recognize community needs, engage the right authorities, and turn public resources into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens. That is precisely the type of practical leadership voters should seek in a federal representative.

His efforts to facilitate solar-powered street lighting in Isunjaba further reinforce this point. Lasting development is often achieved through a series of practical improvements that collectively enhance quality of life. Better lighting strengthens security, supports commerce, and improves the overall environment in a community. Such projects reflect attention not only to large-scale development goals but also to ordinary people’s everyday concerns.

These accomplishments matter because they provide evidence, not speculation. They show what Chief Maduba has already done, not what he merely promises to do.

Equally important is the experience he brings to public service. Representation in the National Assembly requires far more than eloquence and good intentions. It demands an understanding of government institutions, the ability to navigate complex bureaucratic systems, and the relationships necessary to advocate effectively for constituency interests.

Chief Maduba’s government experience has prepared him for these realities.

Chief Maduba’s government experience has prepared him for these realities. His years in public service have given him a practical understanding of how policies are formulated, how projects are secured, and how development objectives can be advanced through collaboration and strategic engagement. These are not insignificant assets. In today’s political environment, effectiveness often depends upon a representative’s ability to build coalitions, engage decision-makers, and ensure that constituency needs command attention where critical decisions are made.

NINN needs a representative who can compete effectively for federal projects, educational opportunities, infrastructure investments, youth empowerment programs, and economic development initiatives. It needs someone who understands both local communities’ needs and the mechanisms through which government responds to them. Chief Maduba’s record suggests he possesses those capabilities.

Of course, voters should expect more than past accomplishments. They should demand accountability, transparency, accessibility, and measurable results from anyone elected to office. Representation is not a reward; it is a responsibility. The people of NINN deserve a representative who listens, consults, and remains responsive to the communities that entrusted him with their mandate.

If elected, Chief Maduba’s responsibility will extend beyond Isunjaba to every community in Nwangele, Isu, Nkwerre, and Njaba. Effective leadership requires fairness and inclusion. Development must reach every corner of the constituency, and every community must feel represented. I believe he understands this responsibility and appreciates the importance of uniting diverse communities around shared goals and collective progress.

Ultimately, elections are about choices. They are about identifying not the perfect candidate, but the candidate best prepared to serve.

The people of NINN have before them a man whose life reflects community engagement, educational support, infrastructure advocacy, administrative experience, and sustained commitment to public service. They have an individual who has already shown a willingness to invest his time, energy, and influence in advancing others.

At this critical moment, NINN should not settle for aspirations without evidence or promises without a record. It should choose proven commitment over speculation, demonstrated service over rhetoric, and experience over uncertainty.

Chief Nze Cosmas Maduba (Ikenga Isu) has earned many people’s trust and confidence through years of service to his community. The next step in that journey is service on a broader stage. For the people of Nwangele, Isu, Nkwerre, and Njaba, the choice should be clear. If what we seek is leadership that can unite communities, attract development, expand opportunities, and give NINN a stronger voice in Abuja, then Chief Cosmas Maduba deserves our support and our vote.

Campaign slogans will not shape NINN’s future. Leadership, experience, and results will shape it. Chief Cosmas Maduba has demonstrated all three.
