YOLA — Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has charged Development Area Administrators in Adamawa to hold periodic meetings with farmers and herders in their respective areas to avoid any breach of security during the harvest period.
The Governor gave the charge when he received in the audience the forum of Sole Administrators in Adamawa on a courtesy call in the Government House, Yola, vowed that the government will not take the issue lightly as they will be held accountable.
He expressed concern that the recent peaceful protest by youths which was hijacked by hoodlums and degenerated into chaos, the Governor vowed that such incidents will not be tolerated in the state.
Fintiri advised the Administrators to encourage farmers to engage in dry season farming to fight food insecurity in the state and also called on them to collaborate with local government council chairmen and security agencies to ensure peace and security in their respective domains.
Earlier, the Chairman Adamawa State Forum of Development Area Administrators, Alhaji Suleiman Belel thanked the Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve their people.
He commended the Governor on the giant strides in education, roads, security and urged him not to relent so as to improve the state.
