Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has felicitated with the Christian community in Adamawa on the re-election of Most Reverend Stephen Dami Mamza, Catholic Bishop of Yola as state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou said the re-election of the cleric for a second term unopposed reflects his acceptability by the Christian Community and non-Christians alike.

The statement read in part “Bishop Dami Mamza retains a unique moral authority in Adamawa, and remains a voice in shaping and moulding the younger generation, whenever the cleric speaks, people feel compelled to listen and respond.

“It is my belief that Bishop Dani Mamza would continue to guide the destinies of the people through these turbulent times on the firm foundations of moral heritage which he has done so much to uphold and promote.

Rejoicing with the CAN Chairman on the resounding Endorsement of his resolute leadership, Governor Fintiri observed that “he became an ideal candidate to retain the position because of the followership he commands”.

Fintiri described the cleric as a person with an inspiring commitment to the virtues of community self-help, individuality and personal accountability which are exhibited in his personal sacrifices both in the Church and outside.

The Governor pointed out that Bishop Mamza`s personal example of fortitude would be a source of inspiration and great solace to the entire state.

He acknowledged the Bishop’s spirit of humanness and care for the needy as well as deep interest in the growth and development of Adamawa.

Fintiri prayed to God to grant the CAN chairman wisdom and strength to continue in His service as well as reward his sacrifices.
