The Provost College of Education, Hong, Adamawa State Professor Johnson H. Pongri has advocated for the conversation of the College to Adamawa State University of Education.
The Provost who made the remark while interacting with Journalists in his office said the College is currently awarding Degree and National Certificate of Education (NCE) in various fields of education.
Pongri who spent ten years as the Provost of the College expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation given to him by both the staff of the College and the host community.
“The relationship between the college and host communities as cordial as the whole land mass was donated by the community free of charge.
“The College has physical infrastructure, academic standard in terms of content from the lecturers and the results of the end products that can meet the standard of a University.
“When we came, Dulbuni hostels are like any ghetto in the world, but we have turned it to modern hostels, we have only vehicle, but now there are many fleet of vehicles courtesy of TETFund.
“We have trained close to about 50 lecturers, and more than 200 lecturers have attended conferences both at nationally and internationally levels”. He said
Pongri stated that the College was given face life, stressing that in the last ten years students were reading with bush lamps, but now the college is connected to the National Grid.
He however said, road network and inadequate hostels are the major challenges confronted by the College.
“During rainy season, it became impassable to move from hostels to classrooms, offices, staff quarters and other places within the college due to lack of good road network.
“It is easier class control students by the lecturers; curtail drug intake, disciplinary measures and other vices”. He added
