The United Nations is to fifteen million dollars ($15m) to fight hunger in the North East, Nigeria.
A press release by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs quoted the Emergency Relief Chief, Mark Lowcock as saying “a total of 15 million Dollars emergency funding to address rising food insecurity in north-east Nigeria”.
The statement added that “the ongoing crisis affecting Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic is driving hunger to an alarming level.
“Up to 5.1 million people are at risk of food insecurity in the crisis-affected states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe”.
