To ensure accurate data is obtained on the field during census exercise, the National Population Commission in Adamawa has commenced the training of personnel that handle exercise to be carried out in Yola South and Song local government areas.
The training held at Lamido Zubairu Hall in Yola town is aimed at equipping Demarcates and Supervisors.
Declaring the workshop open, the Adamawa State Federal Commissioner of the NPC, Dr Clifford Zirra said 260 local government areas across the federation have been successful Demarcated in the phase ten of exercise, adding that the eleventh phase will commence on the 19th, December 2020 and will end on 20th January 2021.
Doctor Zirra describes Enumeration Area Demarcation EAD, as the basis for success of Credible and accurate actual Census of a country, adding that planning for Census is anchored on the EAD for quality, credibility and acceptability.
“National Sample frame of a Country is created from the EAD, and is being used by all data collecting Organizations like, research institutions and international Agencies, like IMF and World Bank to monitor the economic and financial performance of a country.
“The Commission is determined to deliver to the Country a population and housing Census that will stand the test of time, because latest technology is being deployed for the EAD exercise.
“Over 75 Demarcates and more than 30 experts would be on ground for the comprehensive coverage of eleven wards each in Yola South and Song Local government areas”. He said
Zirra appealed to state and Local governments, traditional and religious leaders in the community to continue supporting the Commission in carrying out the EAD in the state.
Speaking during the event, the Adamawa state Director of the NPC, Alhaji Abubakar Hammaadama said the primary aim of the workshop is to create opportunity for participants to exchange ideas on how best to conduct a successful Enumeration Area Demarcation in the state.
