MAIDUGURI — Business activities related to the use of electricity as a source of energy were crippled for the past three weeks as a result of the power outage experienced by residents of Maiduguri metropolis and its environs.
It was learned that the situation was caused by vandalisation of poles by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
Most of the people who run businesses on the national grid as power sources have now resorted to the use of an electric generators to power their appliances.
The residents of Maiduguri Metropolis and its environs experienced power outages for the past three weeks.
The level of destruction to the power facility is beyond comprehension and authorities are working round the clock to normalize the situation.
Babakura Maina Gana a barber who operates in the Ruwan Zafi area of Maiduguri said the power outage has affected his barbing business.
On her part, Abigail Yunana said she had to shut down her saloon shop due to the inability to acquire a small generator that will help her to continue running her business to take care of her family and pay their school fees.
