President Muhammadu Buhari, the Northern Governors Forum, Governor Wike, and many other prominent names have criticized the attack on Benue’s Dr. Samuel Ortom.
During a press meeting on Saturday, the governor had narrated how he was attacked by unknown gunmen while inspecting his farm at Tyo-Mu community near Makurdi, the same day.
“If not for my security men and God I would have been dead by now, I ran over 1.5 kilometers to escape while my security men repelled the herdsmen”, he said.
Reacting to this, President Buhari, alongside some other governors have called on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, to unveil those behind the ugly attempt and bring them to book.
Describing the incident as disturbing, the Northern Governors Forum demanded that a thorough investigation should be conducted on the cases.
In a statement, Chairman of the forum and governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong said the attack is an attempt to disrupt the peace and sanity of the state and country as a whole.
He applauded security operatives attached to the governor for successfully repelling the attack on governor Ortom and his entourage.
Noting that the North has chosen to state with the governor and his people, Simon called for a combined effort in the fight against the escalating security challenges in the country.
