YOLA — The Adamawa state government says one million two hundred and twelve thousand, one hundred and eighteen (1,212,118) Children have been vaccinated in the just concluded outbreak response one immunization exercise in the state.

Deputy Governor of the state Chief Crowther Seth stated this at the state task force on immunization meeting held at the conference hall of his office, reassured of government commitment to improving the health status and well-being of the citizens.

Seth, who is also the chairman of the state task force on immunization lauded the stakeholders for the role played in the conduct of the outbreak response one exercise.

“Despite all odds, the task force has achieved coverage of One hundred and one per cent and a wastage rate of six per cent.

“The effort of the development partners in supporting immunization and other health interventions in Adamawa and the health workers for providing the needed services led to the achievements,” he said.

Seth noted the challenges faced before and during the implementation of the just concluded outbreak response and reassured of the release of funds towards successful conduct of pre-implementation activities.

The Deputy Governor encouraged the critical stakeholders to support the program through intensive advocacy and social mobilization.

In his speech, the Commissioner for Health, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Rhoda Zira Yohanna lauded the achievements of the stakeholders and wished them a successful exercise.

In a remark, the Chairman Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir commended the state government and development partners, noted the feats to their support.

“The exercise is aimed at building the necessary herd immunity in Adamawa and for Nigeria to retain its polio-free status, the task force is a statutory committee with a mandate to coordinate polio eradication activities in the state and also supervise local governments task force on immunization, among other key functions,” he said.
