Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has expressed concern over recent bandit attacks on some communities in Bukkuyum and Maru Local Government Areas.

The governor in a statement through his media adviser, Malam Zailani Baffa, said the incident would not dissuade his government.

The governor offered condolences to the attack’s victims and families and urged the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to promptly distribute relief supplies to those affected.

The statement noted that the incident comes at a time when the state was experiencing increased peace, which enabled it to host millions of people for a significant religious festival.

Recall that on Sunday, security operatives in the state said that a surprise attack was launched on the two Local Government Areas in which 20 people, including the village chief, were killed in a shooting that erupted at 8:30 a.m. when gunmen invaded the communities.

It was gathered that the bandits also ransacked shops and stole various items.
