Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Monday tasked the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) to help Adamawa with a practical solution to ending the menace of security challenges.
The Governor made the appeal when he received in audience participants of a local tour by Executive Intelligence Management (EIMC) Course 15 of the Institute in the Government House, Yola.
The team are from Ghana, Ruwanda, Gambia and Nigeria drawn from various security outfits and government agencies.
The course 15 tour which has the duration of ten months in the country has the theme “the global climate challenge:, prospects and priorities for economic resolutions in Africa.
Governor Fintiri urged the team to make recommendations that would address pockets of insecurity in some parts of Adamawa state.
Fintiri explained that his administration has reduced the menace of insecurity to the barest minimum through the collaborative efforts of security, hunters and vigilante members of vigilante.
“Adamawa is a unique state because of its conglomeration of about 87 diverse ethnic groups,” he said.
Earlier in her remarks, the team leader, Mrs. EE Oyeyele said Adamawa was chosen for the study tour because of its strategic importance among states of the federation.
“The participants during their stay in Adamawa will interrogate the effects of climate change, and the role of government in mitigating the problem as well as the act of good governance,” she said.
She explained that at the end of the tour, a report will be drafted and submitted to the government for policy formulation.
The team visited the American University of Nigeria, Yola, and paid a homage to Lamido Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa.
The Institute was established in 1999, and a bill for its establishment was signed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
