With less than three weeks for Nigerians to go the polls to elect a new President that will lead the country in the next four years, some yet-to-be-identified hoodlums have vandalized five vehicles in the convoy of the Wife of the Governor of Adamawa state, Hajiya Lami Umaru Fintiri.
Reports indicate that the vehicles came under attack at Church premises including that of the Press crew, and an ambulance in Muchalla, Mubi North local government area.
The wife of the Governor accompanied the PDP governorship running mate in the state Prof. Kaletapawa Farauta for a Church programme in the village.
Only one person was said to have sustained an injury in the incident.
Muchalla is the hometown of Senator Ishiaka Abbo who is seeking re-election on the platform of APC, the main opposition party in Adamawa state.
Press Secretary to the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Mary Adamu confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, following the attack on the convoy of the wife of the Governor, the Adamawa state Commissioner of Police CP SK Akande has vowed to arrest the culprits as it deployed operatives from the Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT) and other Tactical squads.
According to a press statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said those deployed are to checkmate and arrest the culprits, coordinate timely responses to distress calls, and prevent political Gangsterism in the state.
The statement reads in part: “The CP has equally directed the Deputy Commissioner of police in charge of Operations to lead all Divisional police officers, Operational Commanders, and Area Commanders to ensure total domination of the public space and arrest troublemakers”.
The CP while re-emphasizing the firm determination of the Command in ensuring the safety of lives and property seek full cooperation from members of the public particularly Politicians to talk to their Supporters to shun all forms of violence and key into the Command’s effort in sustaining the peace we strive to maintain”.
