Otunba Femi Arowosola, the chairman of the Police Community Relation Commission (PCRC), and other chieftains of the association on Wednesday visited the Agodi area police command to sympathize with the police formation over rioters’ attack on the Agodi 2 police station.
On Friday 3rd February, the police station was under heavy attack when angry protesters struck over the scarcity of new naira notes and petrol.
The protesters who besieged the police state in large number used the opportunity to vandalise the police station and a bank at Agodi Gate area of Ibadan in Oyo State,
During the visit, Arowosola who was received by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in-charge of Agodi area command, ACP Taiwo Kasumu, empathized with the officers and men of the division and pledged to assist the station towards securing the premises.
ACP Kasumu who conducted the PCRC bigwigs around the damaged facilities thanked them for the good gesture and show of compassion and also for identifying with them during the trying period.
“The history of this place has shown vulnerability because of its open nature. As you can see, it’s not fenced and is predominantly populated by traffic police officers that are not armed. I can assure you that our Commissioner of Police will act accordingly to forestall future attacks on this station.” Kasumu said.
PCRC executives in the entourage are, Chief Fracis Aimakhu, chairman of PCRC Agodi area command, Dr. Sola Adekoya, chairman PCRC Felele, Chief Olayinka Banjo, chairman Challenge and Pastor Lanre Aderajo, vice chairman Agodi area command.
Others include, Hon. Biodun Bello, the Secretary Agodi area command, Mukadam Monsuru Oladele, from Idi-Aro division, Alhaji Diran Mustapha, chairman Agodi division and Pastor Sola Akande, Chief of Staff, zone XI.
